Public Transport Museum
The Public Transport Museum of the Prague Public Transport Company is located in the historical building of a tram depot in Prague's Střešovice.
The museum contains a unique collection of vehicles and objects from the history of the Prague public transport. This comprises 50 historical vehicles, models, old photographs, tickets and plans and other historical documents. Besides its own vehicles the museum exhibits also vehicles borrowed from the National Technical Museum. A part of the exhibition are also film materials from funds of the National Film Archive. The tram depot itself was built in 1909 and in 1991 it was proclaimed a national technical monument. It served for depositing and maintenance of trams until 1992 when its transformation into the museum started. Until this day, historical trams, such as the circle line 91 that operates on weekends and holidays in the summer season, are dispatched from the depot. The Public Transport Museum is open on weekends and holidays from January till November (exact dates can be found on the Prague Public Transport Company website) from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. Children under 6 years of age are admitted for free.
