Art Gallery for Children
In the very center of Prague near Old Town Square you will find the unique Art Gallery for Children (GUD).
Its peculiarity consists in the fact that local rules are quite contrary to those that apply in common galleries. The most important here are not valuable works of art, but children from 2 to 13 years, to whom the gallery is dedicated. By means of a multipurpose multimedia space where small visitors become co-creators of displayed exhibits the gallery aims to support their relationship to art from an early age. Works specifically created for the gallery are composed in such a way that they do not have a definitive form, but offer space to children who can complete them creatively by involving their imagination and other senses. Children can therefore experience various works of art and try various art techniques and materials. Thanks to their own activity children will remember much more compared to just passively observing works of art. The Art Gallery for Children presents an ideal place to take your children in Prague when you have run out of ideas or when the weather is bad outside. It is open from Tuesday till Sunday, however on weekdays only from 1 p.m., as mornings are reserved for schools. The gallery is barrier-free and children under three years have free admission.
