The interactive exhibitions at the Karel Zeman Museum in Prague's Malá Strana will guide you through the life-long work of the world renowned Czech film director Karel Zeman including his special effects, which made the Czech cinematography of the 20th century famous. Thanks to the use of special effects and animation in his films, Karel Zeman was often called the follower of the French filmmaker and pioneer of cinematography Georges Méliès. The exhibition, which is designed as film scenes and small studios, will tell you about the whole work of Karel Zeman including animation and puppet films that he created at the beginning of his career till the work of his last creative period. Among the most famous movies of this film director, artist, puppeteer and animator are the fantasy comedy Baron Prášil starring the famous Czech actor Miloš Kopecký, Vynález zkázy and the famous Cesta do pravěku based on Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth, to which a significant part of the exhibition is dedicated. Besides screening of Karel Zeman's famous movies also animation and special effects workshops, seminars and lectures take place in the museum. Do not forget to bring your own camera or camcorder to the museum as you can try out the same special effects that Karel Zeman used in his films. The Karel Zeman Museum is open daily between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Children under one meter of height have free admission.
