As with previous issues, the Selected by Svoboda & Williams magazine’s print special is being published ahead of the summer season. Its creators introduced the ninth issue, which invites readers to explore nature, at the studio of multimedia artist Adam Vačkář.
Adam Vačkář wasn’t chosen as the cover star by accident. An artist who studied in Paris and Tokyo as well as in Prague and is currently based in New York, he explores the intelligence of invasive plants in his projects. In his interview in the latest issue, he discusses, among other things, the contrast between the environment that inspires him and the polished cynicism of the art world.
The magazine has compiled a wide range of perspectives on nature and published them on its website. Ecologist and biologist David Štorch explains to readers of Selected why the debate on the climate crisis is oversimplified and why romantic notions of pristine nature are misguided. Eliška Kolomazníková from the Refugium environmental organization presents rewilding projects in environmentally valuable areas.
You’ll also find a profile of Bára Šimůnková, who was recently awarded a green star by Michelin inspectors, as well as profiles of interesting landscape architects. You can also read an interview with the architects from the Danish firm ADEPT, whose work will be seen in Prague and Ostrava in the coming years.
The magazine is best enjoyed outdoors, away from electrical outlets.
