This unique residential high-rise building by the architect Eva Jiřičná, which is bringing a unique housing concept to the Moravian-Silesian capital, is one step closer to becoming a reality. The project’s developer has now obtained a building permit. Construction work will begin by the end of summer at the latest, and so the Mrakodrap project is expected to be completed within three years.
Mrakodrap combines the city’s industrial past with its vibrant future. The complete conversion of the building from the mid-1960s is by the renowned AI • DESIGN architectural firm. In the first phase, builders will strip the building down to its skeleton so they can wrap it in a new facade featuring organic shapes and terraces planted with greenery and equipped with a self-watering system.
Up to the 24th floor, the architects have designed 111 apartments, ranging in size from 30 m² to 203 m² and featuring layouts from studio to three-bedroom. These units are characterized by high-quality standards and modern technologies. On the two highest floors, air-conditioning will be included in the standard facilities. Each apartment comes with a cellar storage unit and residents can purchase a garage parking space in a separate parking garage. The renovation of the building will also include landscaping of the surrounding area, where a recreational zone will be created.
“Mrakodrap has generated significant interest, and even during the pre-sales phase—which took place before the building permit was issued—we’ve already fielded dozens of reservations,” says Eva Grusová, senior property consultant at Svoboda & Williams.
Cooperating with the project’s developer, First Skyscraper s.r.o., are the renowned companies BBP Stavby and KAMI PROFIT, which bring their many years of experience in construction and real estate development in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and abroad to the project. Their combined portfolio consists of over 500 apartments with a market value of over 130 million euros.
