Forty bottles of iconic Cabernet Sauvignon wine produced by one of Napa Valley’s most famous wineries could soon be the star of your terroir. Christie’s auction house is preparing an online auction scheduled for the first half of September featuring a collection that includes all vintages of this award-winning wine.
According to pre-auction estimates, bottles directly from the Novak family’s private cellars could sell for a total of $10,000–20,000. Spottswoode needs no introduction to connoisseurs—its labels with a picture of a romantic estate have long received top ratings from renowned critics such as Robert Parker, Wine Spectator, and Wine Enthusiast. The brand is one of the pioneers of the Californian wine scene, not only because it has been led by female winemakers for the last four decades, but also because of its innovative approach to organic farming.
This complete collection of this specific vintage offers collectors a rare opportunity to trace the development of Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon over four decades, including wines that are now only available in limited quantities on the market. The auction winner will also receive an invitation to the annual Spottswoode tasting event, which will take place on November 10th at the historic estate in St. Helena, California. The tasting of twenty vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon from 2002 to 2023, accompanied by a lunch, will be open to the public for the first time ever.
The Fine & Rare Wines Online: LA Edition auction will be held from September 4th to 18th.
