Lesser Quarter
If you are a fan of history and architecture, then Prague's Mala Strana is the place to be. Mala Strana, or Lesser Town as it is known, with its picturesque lanes and magnificent buildings belongs among the oldest and most beautiful city parts in Prague. Most buildings date back to the Baroque period in this area and were built after a devastating fire in the 16th century that destroyed a large amount of original buildings. It's not by chance then that Lesser Town is called the Baroque Pearl of Prague. Even though Lesser Town is right in the city center, there are many winding narrow aisles that will take you to various hidden corners where you can enjoy peace and quiet and magical little architectural and garden details - and this is exactly what's unique about this part of the city. The area features such famous sights as Wallenstein Palace with its beautiful public gardens and the famous Charles Bridge, which connects Prague's Lesser Town to Old Town.
