U Kalendů
U Kalendů is a restaurant with an in-house bakery on the right bank of the Vltava River, above the popular Naplavka embankment.
U Kalendů stands on the site of the old settlement of Podskalí, a settlement that was very much connected with the Vltava River. It was a destination and a meeting place for workers, rowers, explorers, and artists. Today U Kalendů offers such a meeting place once again. This traditional, honest restaurant is a good place to sample hearty Czech cuisine with some special dishes thrown in for good measure, like fried grundles which were famously sold in Podskalí. U Kalendů invites you to go and sample their grundles, their carefully treated beer on tap, and more. The lines between kitchen and bakery are blurred daily as they intertwine effortlessly – chefs use yesterday’s bread for a specific recipe, while bakers score unusual ingredients from the kitchen. The bakery offers crusty loaves of bread including sourdough (which can be sampled in a fried version in the restaurant) and a variety of pastries. For a good homemade meal and mouthwatering beer on tap, head to U Kalendů today.
