Momoichi Coffetearia
Located in the increasingly popular neighborhood of Vršovice on Římská Street is the equally popular Momoichi Coffetearia.
This cafe / tearoom / bistro is influenced by the fine-honed tea culture of Japan (extending to the Momoyama period) – a culture that makes the most of hospitality and accommodation. This is why the founders of this exciting spot decided upon the name, Momoichi, to reflect the grounding philosophy of peace and mutual understanding. Drinking coffee, tea or sampling food should be more than just that, one should be able to also meet like-minded individuals, relax, and enjoy the finer things in life with them. The Momoichi Coffetearia establishment offers the most pleasant, laid back ambience possible, paired together with exceptional service and, of course, high quality coffee, tea, and more. The cheery, attractive setting features a simple interior with elements of wood and wrought iron. The sleek space is, even though sparse, still warm and inviting. Hanging Japanese lanterns and small decorative touches provide a slight exotic feeling. The menu consists of various types of tea drinks, including their specials (matcha, matcha latte, Thai iced tea, lemongrass tea, red cappuccino/latte – unique rooibos tea prepared as espresso that has 5 times more antioxidants then green tea and caffeine free, etc.), steampunk green tea (spring midori first flush, setoya midori, bancha – to name a few), steampunk black tea, and more. At Momoichi you can also sample Japanese spirits (whiskey, sake) and expertly mixed cocktails (e.g. “Sayuri” - raspberry vodka, Aperol, lychee liqueur, rose syrup, fresh lemon and “Shiitake San” - Japanese whisky Nikka, sakura syrup & shiitake bitter). The drinks menu is further supplemented by a variety of wines, non-alcoholic drinks, and coffee (cappuccino, Omotesando flat white, affogato, Arabic coffee, etc.). Food-wise Momoichi Coffetearia can’t be beat – they offer breakfast (to name a few, matcha kinako pancakes (抹茶きなこパンケーキ) homemade matcha pancakes with kinako & agave syrup, Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き) traditional Japanese omelette with cabbage, eggs, bacon, cheese, japanese mayonnaise and smoked Bonito flakes), appetizers (Saigon rice paper roll with shrimp and Seasonal misoshiru soup), and main dishes (Sichuan Wonton & Wafu salad - dumplings filled with minced pork, chili sauce with chili oil & large salad with wafu dressing, Japanese style udon noodle soup (chicken or shrimp) - udon noodle soup with dashi stock, seasonal fresh vegetables and seaweed). Momoichi Coffetearia is a great place to frequent… pop by for a visit and see why.
