Cafe Slavia

A gorgeous view of Prague’s historical monuments, a unique atmosphere and excellent coffee make a visit to Cafe Slavia a marvelous experience.

Cafe Slavia that opened for the first time in 1884 has a rich history. It has always profited from its excellent location opposite the National Theater – its regular guests included e.g. the composer Bedřich Smetana or theater director Jaroslav Kvapil, as well as writers Rainer Maria Rilke and Franz Kafka. In the period between the two World Wars the interior of the cafe was reconstructed in the Art Deco style. Café Slavia became the meeting point of authors, such as Karel Čapek and Jaroslav Seifert and later in the Communist era Václav Havel and other dissidents frequented it. Thanks to the large windows in the cafe you can enjoy breathtaking views of the National Theater, the Vltava River and Prague Castle right from your table, a view that no other cafe can offer. On the menu you will find traditional Czech dishes, specialties of the cafe, salty crepes and more, as well as an incredibly wide offer of coffee. If you want to savor your coffee at a table with a view, do not forget to make a reservation, as the cafe is often bustling and crowded.
