Architecture in Brno

The charm of Brno’s architecture, especially it’s Functionalist architecture, has been drawing visitors to this Central European city for years. It’s no secret to lovers of architecture and design that this mecca showcases an array of remarkable houses and villas built during the inter-war period, most notably the Villa Tugendhat. Sadly during WWII and after, the majority of these structures were neglected and misused. Fortunately, some of the best examples of Functionalism in Brno have been restored, however, there are still a few in need of restoration. Brno’s array of architecture, of course, boasts shining examples from all eras, starting with early Gothic structures and ending with today’s current architectural trends.
