The origins of this family operated Swiss company date back to 1874 when Jules Louis Audemars met Edward Auguste Piguet in Le Brassus, Switzerland and shared together their passion for watchmaking. After graduating they started manufacturing watches complete with complex mechanisms and created the firm Audemars, Piguet et Cie - known as Audemars and Piguet today. It is of interest that members of the families have been on the board of directors since 1882, making it the oldest watchmaking manufacturer of fine timepieces that is still in fact, Swiss, and in the hands of its founding families. Considered to be one of the top three Swiss watchmakers alongside Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet creates every watch by hand in Le Brassus (all watch parts are made in-house), ensuring high quality from an old tradition that masters the art of precision.
