MaxMara dates back to 1951 when Achille Maramotti anticipated the idea of prêt-a-porter fashion with a camel coat and a geranium red suit, a very fashion forward idea and design based on the fact that fashion at that time was all a handcrafted field. The first collection by Maramotti was visionary with precise, clean cuts combined with French inspired designs but redesigned and blended together with traditional Italian style. The immediate success of the ready-to-wear collection was due to the innovative creation of Maramotti who was also in London in the 1960s at the height of London’s debut as the new head of the fashion industry, where he also put further ideas into the world of fashion and production including Sportmax, a collection presented to women determined to find their own style and individual look.
