St. Ludmila
The St. Ludmila church is one of the most distinctive landmarks in Vinohrady.
Situated on Náměstí Míru Square, this gorgeous neo Gothic church was built from 1883 to 1893 and is comprised of two magnificent twin towers resembling two hands in a prayer which you can’t miss. From the outside the church catches your eye by its impressive stature, while the inside colorfulness wows. The interior of St. Ludmila features beautiful paintings, ornaments and frescoes. Looking at the decoration you will simply be mesmerized by the walls painted in the deep reds and fresh blues. Another interesting feature are the stained glass windows with figures of saints. Famous painters and sculptors were commissioned to work on the exterior and the interior of this architectural masterpiece, including Josef Václav Myslbek who is the creator of the famous equestrian sculpture of St. Wenceslas on Wenceslas Square in the center of Prague.
